An Important Decision (Multi-Me)
My idea for this picture was to show how I’m still unsure about what I want to do when I grow up. It shows different occupations on the stairs, including a magician, a flutist, a scientist, a painter, a mathematician, and an athlete. On the other side the stairs, at the right, there’s me still thinking about what I should do. I created this picture by setting up the camera on a tripod and taking several pictures of me in different spots in the picture without moving the camera. After I had all of the pictures, I went into Photoshop and edited them together by copying me from one picture and pasting me in the same place onto the background. Overall, I still really like my concept and how all the different jobs were on the stairs and the “actual” me that was conflicted between the jobs was on the other side of the picture. If I could redo this project I would try and make the different occupations more recognizable and I would try to move one of the careers into the middle of the stairs where there is a empty space.
Action Shots
I think that to have a good action photo, it needs to be an action that is interesting meaning that it is a big or expressive action and it is an action that you don’t see an excessive amount like walking. It could also be an action that would normally go by too quickly to see exactly what is happening. To use freeze motion, you have to change the camera to the Shutter Priority mode and use a fast shutter speed. For my pictures, I decided to take photos of a car going over a speed bump, Hannah on the swings, and snow falling off the branches of a tree. I think that the picture of the car going over the speed bump could’ve been better because the action isn’t very noticeable. Out of all of them the hardest one to capture was the one of the snow falling because I had to jump, pull on a branch then as the snow was falling, take a few steps back and snap the pictures, but that is probably my favourite photo of the three because of how the snow looks as its falling.
Point of View
For my bird’s eye view picture, I took a picture of Hannah with her back against a pole, looking down at her camera. I took this picture because I think that the contrast between Hannah’s clothing and the woodchips on the ground looks nice and the pole acts as another thing that draws attention and then leads down to Hannah. My other bird’s eye view picture is of Rosy on the playground. I think that the way this picture is taken from above shows the space in between the platforms and, along with the way that Rosy is holding her arms out for balance, makes it seem as though walking across the platforms is a very difficult task. My first worm’s eye view picture is of Rosy standing at the bottom of a staircase. The angle of the picture makes it seem as though the staircase is really tall and reminds me of how staircases or steep mountains symbolize tough situations and that’s what I tried to do as well. My second worm’s eye view is one that I took quite a while ago. It is of some palm trees growing beside the hotel I stayed at when I went to Las Vegas over the summer. I really liked how the lighting looked because it was nighttime and the only lighting was the one at the bottom of the trees. The point of view of the picture shows how tall the palm trees were. The wall beside the trees also serves as something to compare the height of the trees to, but I would’ve preferred to have been able to crop it out without having to get rid of half of the photo.
"Love"
For my project to do with love, the first picture I took was of a rose in a vase with a bunch of other flowers. In editing, I duplicated it and made the duplicated image black and white and covered the part with the rose with a layer mask so that the colour of the original photo could show. Then to make the rose pop more, I made the colours of the original brighter and bolder. In my mind this picture represented the whole mindset of “when you’re in love, even if you look into a crowd of people, the one you love will always be the first one you see”. My second picture was meant to represent “you” in the middle and people around you as the other vases. The concept was that the people around you are in love their love is blooming (haha puns, sorry), but you are alone and your love has died and is shown through the dead flower. In the last photo, I took the top down picture of the roses. I took this picture mainly because of how the point of view looked.
Animal Morphs
What Christmas Means to me
In the first picture, I tried to make it seem very homely and warm. It reminds me of how winter is always so cold but everyone can gather around the fireplace and warm up together. I took the picture of the ornament as the second photo because it makes me think of how everything is always so beautiful around Christmas time as everything is very well decorated with lights, tinsel, shiny ornaments and more! In the last picture, I took a picture of a sign saying “Santa’s Workshop” because another very popular thing that happens at Christmas time is gift giving and who gives more gifts than Santa. (Also Santa’s workshop is where all of the gifts he gives are supposedly made.)

Framing
November 2016
In these three pictures, I used a frame of sorts to help focus the viewers’ attention onto the subject of the photo. In one of the pictures I asked Hannah to make a heart with her hands and I used that to frame the poppy that she was wearing for the Remembrance Day assembly. This was sort of to show how we care about and respect the poppy, which symbolizes the soldiers who fought in the war. The second picture is of Rosy who is sitting of a swing, looking down at her camera being framed by the metal fence. In that picture, the way she was looking down and the fact that she is the only one in the photo added to a sense of loneliness. In the third photo I used a rusty metal grate to frame a bird. While taking this one, I didn’t really have a deeper meaning in mind.

If there was a picture that I could change, I would probably try to make it more clear that the two of them are crossing the stream in the last picture. The process of making the stream was a lot more difficult than I originally thought. At first I tried to just run the water from a hose across the grass in my backyard, but that didn't really work out because the water would just get absorbed by the dirt. Eventually, after much trial and error, I decided to try digging a little path for the water to run down and luckily it worked and looks surprisingly good.

Me Collage
September 2016
What you see here is my first attempt at using Photoshop. It's a collage of pictures that I really like and that I think represent me in some way (and a selfie in the middle because what would represent me better than an actual picture of me?). I should probably explain a bit about the pictures I chose. First of all, I'd like to mention that I did not intend for there to be so much blue in the collage, however, I quite like it. In this collage there are a few themes, the main one being music, there's some snow, there is some loneliness, and gaming. Okay, now starting from the top, we have the picture of the flowers. I don't know if you can tell but the flowers are actually paper flowers made out of sheet music, clearly contributing to the music theme, also there is just something about flowers that I think is just very aesthetically pleasing. Other music themed pictures are the microphone, the guitar and the ear buds with the phone. I chose those pictures because I enjoy singing, I'm teaching myself how to play the guitar, and I'm always listening to music whenever I can. The next theme is snow, I've always liked the look of snow and I will always prefer cold weather over hot weather. The theme I wish I could've added more pictures for is gaming. The problem with that is that it's pretty difficult to find good photos while looking through an endless stream of images depicting two-dimensional characters. In the end, I had to settle for the one picture of the stadium for a League of Legends World Championship event, it's the one bathed in blue and red lighting. The last theme in this collage includes the picture with the ducks, and the picture of the empty theater. I've categorized them under "loneliness", but that makes it sound like a bad thing, I typically enjoy being alone, (shown by the photo of the theater) however, there are times when I wish I could have a group of friends that I could be really close with (shown through the image of the ducks). The one final picture that doesn't really fit in a theme is the one in the top right corner. I mainly chose that photo because I thought it looked really pretty, but I suppose that it could also stand for how I strive for perfection or using a cheesier saying that fits better with the photo, I'm constantly "reaching for the stars". I'm pretty sure that that covers everything, so that's my "Me Collage", overall, I'd say I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
